Welcome to SVI Community Bible Discussions!

One of the important subjects in understanding the Bible is knowing the difference between the Law given through Moses and the grace revealed through Jesus Christ.

Many Christians struggle to understand how the Old Covenant relates to the New Covenant. Some mix the commandments given to Israel under the Law with the instructions given to believers under grace.

To understand God’s Word correctly, we need to consider who was being addressed, the covenant in view, and what the passage teaches in its context.

      John 1:17 (KJV)

“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

      Let us discuss:

What does John 1:17 teach us about the Law and grace? Does being under grace mean that Christians can live however they want, or does grace teach us to live a godly life? How can understanding the difference between the Law and grace help us understand our identity in Christ and our relationship with God?

Share your thoughts and support your answers with Scripture. Let us learn from one another respectfully, studying the Bible in context and allowing God’s Word to guide our understanding.
