WHY WE EXIST
BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SEE WHAT OTHERS HAVE STOPPED SEEING.
Every day, people live among us carrying stories that many never notice.
Some have been abandoned.
Some have been rejected.
Some have grown up believing that their circumstances define who they are.
Some live with physical challenges and have never been given the opportunity to discover what they can do.
Some elderly people reach the later years of their lives without the family, home or care they once hoped for.
And some people simply need someone to look at them and say:

SVI LOVEWORKS exists because we believe that no person’s story should be reduced to their circumstances.
We want to look beyond the limitation and discover the ability.
Beyond the weakness and discover the strength.
Beyond the failure and discover the possibility.
Beyond the loneliness and create belonging.
Beyond the need and discover purpose.
WE DON’T WANT TO CREATE A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE WHO ONLY RECEIVE.

SOME VISIONS BEGIN LONG BEFORE THEY HAVE A NAME.
SVI LOVEWORKS did not begin with a building.
It did not begin with an office.
It did not begin with a large organization or a large budget.
It began as a dream.
A dream of seeing people who are often forgotten treated with dignity.
A dream of seeing children and young people discover that their circumstances do not have to determine their future.
A dream of seeing elderly people surrounded by care instead of abandonment.
A dream of creating places where people can learn, develop their abilities, receive support, find community and experience hope.
And a dream of seeing people from different backgrounds come together and say:

This vision has been in our heart since the beginning of SVI ministry.
For many years, we have carried the desire to see love expressed not only through words, but through practical action.
We know that one person cannot build everything.
But we also know that one person can begin a vision.
And when others recognize that vision and choose to walk alongside it, something much bigger can begin to grow.

We are not asking people to believe that one person or two can change the whole world.

WE MAY DREAM ABOUT THE WORLD, BUT LOVE BEGINS WITH ONE PERSON.
Sometimes we look at the problems around us and they seem too large.
Poverty is too large.
Loneliness is too large.
Abandonment is too large.
Lack of opportunity is too large.
The needs of communities can seem impossible to overcome.
But we believe change does not always begin with solving everything.

Before we decide what people need, we want to understand their reality.
Every community is different.
Every person has a story.
We want to listen to people, understand their challenges and recognize the strengths that already exist within their communities.
We don’t want to simply do things for people. We want to learn how to build with people.
2. WE IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES
Some needs are urgent.

7. WE MEASURE WHAT MATTERS
Numbers can tell us how many people were reached.
But numbers cannot tell the whole story.
We also want to ask:

As SVI LOVEWORKS grows, we want our community to be able to see the journey.

and the impact we are able to make.
Not every story will be about success.
Sometimes responsible work means acknowledging what did not work and learning from it.
Transparency means allowing people to see the journey, not only the destination.

Helping someone should never mean taking away their dignity.
We will seek to tell people’s stories with respect and care.
We do not want vulnerable people to become photographs, statistics or fundraising tools.
Where personal stories, photographs or other identifying information are shared, we want to approach them responsibly and respectfully.

LOVEWORKS is being built for the long term.
As projects, partnerships and resources grow, we intend to develop appropriate systems for responsible governance, financial management, reporting and oversight.
The structures required for a small beginning may not be the same structures required for a global movement.
We understand that growth brings greater responsibility.
The bigger the vision becomes, the greater the accountability must become.

We do not expect people to support LOVEWORKS simply because we have a beautiful vision.

A physical challenge should not automatically become a life sentence of limitation.
Where possible, we want to help create environments where young people can learn, create, play, train and discover what they can contribute.
Because sometimes what a person needs is not someone to tell them what they cannot do.

WHEN AN ELDERLY PERSON FINDS DIGNITY
Growing older should never mean becoming invisible.
We dream of places where elderly people who have been abandoned or left without adequate care can experience safety, friendship, dignity and compassion.
Not simply a roof.

But a place where someone knows their name.
A place where their story matters.
A place where they can feel that they still belong.
