Series 2: Church Practices and Traditions — Discussion 10

      Bible Scripture (KJV)

James 5:14 (KJV): “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:”

Acts 19:11–12 (KJV): “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.”

      Let us discuss:

What do these passages teach about anointing oil and handkerchiefs? Does the Bible teach that these items have power in themselves? How can Christians distinguish biblical practices from traditions that may go beyond Scripture?

Let us examine each passage in its context and share our understanding respectfully.
