Series 2: Church Practices and Traditions — Discussion 38
Bible Scripture (KJV)
Ephesians 6:18 (KJV): “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
Matthew 6:7 (KJV): “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”
Let us discuss:
Does the Bible command every Christian to spend several hours praying every day? Does the length of a prayer determine whether God hears or answers it? How can believers develop a consistent prayer life without comparing their spirituality with the number of hours others pray?
Let us examine the Scriptures in context and share our understanding respectfully. The question is not whether long prayers are appropriate, but whether a particular duration is required of every believer.
