Series 2: Church Practices and Traditions — Discussion 29

      Bible Scripture (KJV)

Matthew 10:8 (KJV): “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”

Acts 8:20 (KJV): “But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.”

      Let us discuss:

Does the Bible teach that people must pay a pastor or minister to receive prayer or deliverance? What is the difference between freely ministering to people and receiving reasonable support for ministry expenses? How can Christians recognize the difference between biblical giving and practices that use fear or promises of miracles to obtain money?

Let us examine the Scriptures in context and share our understanding respectfully.
