      Discussion

Some Christians are taught to give money as a “seed” to receive a miracle, healing, financial breakthrough, or special blessing from God. Sometimes people are promised that the amount they give will determine the size of their blessing.

The Bible teaches generosity, but does it teach that Christians must pay money to obtain miracles or persuade God to bless them?

      Scripture:

      2 Corinthians 9:7 (KJV)

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

      Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

These passages encourage willing generosity and remind us that God’s saving grace is a gift, not something we purchase. We should therefore examine whether teachings about financial seeds encourage cheerful giving or pressure people to pay in expectation of a guaranteed miracle.

      Questions for Discussion

Does the Bible teach that Christians must give a particular amount of money to receive healing, a miracle, or God’s blessing? What is the difference between giving willingly to support ministry and giving because someone promises a specific miracle in return? How should Christian leaders teach about giving without manipulating people through fear, guilt, or promises of guaranteed financial rewards?

Let us discuss these questions respectfully, using Scripture in context and remembering that Christian giving should come from a willing heart rather than coercion.
