Series 2: Church Practices and Traditions — Discussion 37

      Bible Scripture (KJV)

Hebrews 10:17 (KJV): “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”

1 John 1:9 (KJV): “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

      Let us discuss:

Does the Bible require Christians to begin every prayer by confessing all their sins? How should we understand confession and forgiveness in the light of Christ’s finished work? What is the difference between honestly acknowledging wrongdoing and living in fear that God will not hear us unless we repeatedly confess every sin?

Let us read these passages in their context and share our understanding respectfully, allowing Scripture to guide the discussion.
