Welcome to SVI Community Bible Discussions!

Sometimes a person who believes in Jesus Christ falls into sin, struggles spiritually, or turns away from God for a period of time. They may later feel convicted, desire to repent, and wonder whether God will receive them again.

Does falling into sin mean that a person has lost their salvation? What does the Bible teach about God’s mercy, repentance, restoration, and the believer’s relationship with Him?

      1 John 1:9 (KJV)

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

      Galatians 6:1 (KJV)

“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

Let us discuss: What do these Scriptures teach us about forgiveness and restoring someone who has fallen into sin? Is there a difference between a believer who struggles with sin and someone who deliberately rejects the faith? Explain your understanding from Scripture. How should Christians respond to someone who has fallen spiritually but sincerely desires to return to God?
