Series 2: Church Practices and Traditions — Discussion 24
Bible Scripture (KJV)
Ezekiel 18:20 (KJV): “The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.”
Galatians 3:13 (KJV): “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”
Let us discuss:
Does the Bible teach that the sins of our ancestors automatically place believers under a spiritual curse? How should we understand generational consequences and personal responsibility in the light of Ezekiel 18:20? What does Christ’s redemption mean for believers who fear that they must continually break generational curses through special prayers?
Let us examine the Scriptures in context and share our understanding respectfully, focusing on what God’s Word actually teaches.
