Welcome to SVI Community Bible Discussions!

One of the most discussed questions among Christians is whether a person who has genuinely received salvation through Jesus Christ is eternally secure.

Some Christians believe that a truly saved person can never lose salvation. Others believe that a person can turn away from faith and forfeit salvation. Both groups refer to Scripture to explain their understanding.

Rather than relying only on what we have heard from others, let us examine the Word of God together.

      John 10:28–29 (KJV)

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

      Hebrews 3:12 (KJV)

“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.”

Let us discuss: What do you understand from Jesus’ promise in John 10:28–29? How should we understand this promise alongside the warnings about unbelief and departing from God in Hebrews 3:12? According to the Bible, what is the foundation of a believer’s assurance of salvation?

Share your thoughts and support your answers with Scripture. Let us respect one another as we study, ask questions, and grow in our understanding of God’s Word.
