Welcome to SVI Community Bible Discussions!

Miracles can be powerful experiences, and many people associate signs and wonders with God’s power. But does witnessing a miracle automatically mean that a preacher, ministry, or teaching is from God?

The Bible encourages believers to examine what they hear and test spiritual claims rather than accepting everything without discernment.

Deuteronomy 13:1–3 (KJV) warns Israel that even if a sign or wonder comes to pass, they must not follow someone who leads them away from the Lord.

      1 John 4:1 (KJV)

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

      Let us discuss:

According to 1 John 4:1, why should believers test spiritual claims? Can signs and wonders alone establish that a preacher’s message is true? Why or why not? How can we examine teachings and spiritual experiences using Scripture without dismissing the genuine work of God?
